Tom Jones postpones Germany show due to illness, tells fans he’ll be back soon

Legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones, known for his powerful voice and timeless hits, has postponed his concert in Bremen, Germany, because of a sudden illness. The 85-year-old singer shared the news with fans just hours before he was supposed to perform on Tuesday, July 22.

Jones explained on Instagram that he had developed an upper respiratory infection and needed to take some time to rest and recover.

“Unfortunately, I must postpone my show this evening, as I’ve contracted an upper respiratory infection that needs treatment and rest,” he wrote. “I know this is really disappointing and will cause inconvenience to you all, and I’m very sorry about that.”

The good news? The show has already been rescheduled. Fans can catch him in Bremen on Monday, July 28. All tickets for the original date will still be valid.

“I look forward to seeing you then. Until then, thank you for your understanding. Love, Tom,” he added.

This concert was meant to be the final stop in Germany on his ‘Ages & Stages’ tour, which covers cities across the UK and Europe. The tour celebrates Jones’s long and successful career, bringing classics to loyal fans across the continent.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time health issues have forced the singer to take a break. Back in 2022, Tom Jones had to cancel a performance after being diagnosed with viral laryngitis. Some reports at the time falsely claimed he had collapsed, but Jones quickly shut down those rumours.

“I did NOT ‘collapse’ anywhere at any time; that is pure rumour,” he said on social media then. “Hopefully, the inflammation will calm soon, as I am looking forward to continuing my wonderful summer tour.”

He also mentioned that the cancelled show in Budapest had been rescheduled and assured fans he would return. “Thanks again for all your kind concern,” he wrote at the time.

Later in 2022, Tom Jones revealed that he had undergone a second hip replacement surgery. Posting a photo on Instagram, he cheerfully told fans, “Papa has two new hips now!” He said the operation had gone well and that he was working hard on his recovery with regular physiotherapy.

“For all those concerned and sent in well wishes, I am pleased to report my recent surgery went very well,” he wrote, showing his usual upbeat attitude. “I will be back soon!”

Despite these health challenges, Jones has remained active in music. In 2021, he released an album titled ‘Surrounded By Time’. It received praise for its fresh sound and emotional depth.
